World Toilet College: Aurangabad

Following the successful proof of concept in Rishikesh, WTC expanded further to Maharashtra, Aurangabad in partnership with RB, Jagran Pehel and Maharashtra Government. The key objective is ‘to improve the quality of life of manual scavengers through their rehabilitation by linking them with dignified livelihood options’

WTC Aurangabad focuses on manual scavengers with the specific objective to rehabilitate 5000 manual scavengers by up-skilling and linking them with dignified alternative livelihood options both through enterprise formation or employment/placement. It aims to demonstrate community owned entrepreneurship models that provide access to quality, affordable and sustainable sanitation solutions for up-scaling.

Through the program a cadre of certified ‘Swachhta Ambassadors’ would be created to provide customized sanitation solutions for household and community. Under the program training tools would be developed to focus on entrepreneurship development and new job profiles in sanitation value chain. The centre would work as a ‘Incubation Lab’ with support from enabling partners to innovate, design and test technological solutions in the sanitation value chain management.
